Poem Robert Herrick - Maying

puisi inggris baru

Corinna’s Going a-Maying

Get up, get up for shame! The blooming morn
    Upon her wings presents the god unshorn.
    See how Aurora throws her fair
    Fresh-quilted colours through the air:
    Get up, sweet slug-a-bed, and see
    The dew bespangling herb and tree!
Each flower has wept and bow’d toward the east
Above an hour since, yet you not drest;
    Nay! not so much as out of bed?
    When all the birds have matins said
    And sung their thankful hymns, ‘tis sin,
    Nay, profanation, to keep in,
Whereas a thousand virgins on this day
Spring sooner than the lark, to fetch in May.

Rise and put on your foliage, and be seen
To come forth, like the spring-time, fresh and green,
    And sweet as Flora. Take no care
    For jewels for your gown or hair:
    Fear not; the leaves will strew
    Gems in abundance upon you:
Besides, the childhood of the day has kept,
Against you come, some orient pearls unwept.
    Come, and receive them while the light
    Hangs on the dew-locks of the night:
    And Titan on the eastern hill
    Retires himself, or else stands still
Till you come forth! Wash, dress, be brief in praying:
Few beads are best when once we go a-Maying.

Come, my Corinna, come; and coming, mark
How each field turns a street, each street a park,
    Made green and trimm’d with trees! see how
    Devotion gives each house a bough
    Or branch! each porch, each door, ere this,
    An ark, a tabernacle is,
Made up of white-thorn neatly interwove,
As if here were those cooler shades of love.
    Can such delights be in the street
    And open fields, and we not see ‘t?
    Come, we’ll abroad: and let ‘s obey
    The proclamation made for May,
And sin no more, as we have done, by staying;
But, my Corinna, come, let ‘s go a-Maying.

There ‘s not a budding boy or girl this day
But is got up and gone to bring in May.
    A deal of youth ere this is come
    Back, and with white-thorn laden home.
    Some have despatch’d their cakes and cream,
    Before that we have left to dream:
And some have wept and woo’d, and plighted troth,
And chose their priest, ere we can cast off sloth:
    Many a green-gown has been given,
    Many a kiss, both odd and even:
    Many a glance, too, has been sent
    From out the eye, love’s firmament:
Many a jest told of the keys betraying
This night, and locks pick’d: yet we’re not a-Maying!

Come, let us go, while we are in our prime,
And take the harmless folly of the time!
    We shall grow old apace, and die
    Before we know our liberty.
    Our life is short, and our days run
    As fast away as does the sun.
And, as a vapour or a drop of rain,
Once lost, can ne’er be found again,
    So when or you or I are made
    A fable, song, or fleeting shade,
    All love, all liking, all delight
    Lies drown’d with us in endless night.
Then, while time serves, and we are but decaying,
Come, my Corinna, come, let’s go a-Maying.

Corinna Going a-Maying
Robert Herrick
 1591 - 1674
Bangun, bangun untuk rasa malu! The moming mekar
    Di atas sayapnya menghadirkan tuhan unshorn.
    Lihat bagaimana Aurora melempar adil
    Warna-warna quilted baru di udara:
    Bangun, manis siput-tempat tidur, dan lihat
    Embun ramuan dan pohon yang berkilau!Setiap bunga telah menangis dan membungkuk ke arah timurDi atas satu jam sejak, namun Anda tidak drest;
    Bahkan! tidak banyak yang keluar dari tempat tidur?
    Ketika semua burung memiliki kata matin
    Dan dinyanyikan lagu-lagu pujian mereka, 'dosa,
    Nay, profanation, untuk tetap masuk,Padahal seribu perawan di hari iniMusim semi lebih cepat dari pada burung, untuk diambil pada bulan Mei.
Lihat bagaimana
    Pengabdian memberi setiap rumah sebuah dahan
    Sebelum kita tahu kebebasan kita.
    Hidup kita pendek, dan hari-hari kita berjalan
    Secepat matahari.Dan, sebagai uap atau setetes air hujan,Setelah hilang, dapatkah saya ditemukan lagi,
    Jadi kapan atau Anda atau saya dibuat
    Sebuah fabel, lagu, atau bayangan sekilas,
    Semua cinta, semua suka, semua kesenangan
    Kebohongan tenggelam bersama kami di malam tanpa akhir.Kemudian, sementara waktu berfungsi, dan kita tetapi membusuk,Ayo, Corinna saya, ayo, ayo pergi a-Maying.

Poem Robert Herrick - Blossoms

puisi inggris baru

To Blossoms

Fair pledges of a fruitful tree,
   Why do ye fall so fast?
   Your date is not so past,
But you may stay yet here awhile
   To blush and gently smile,
      And go at last.

What, were ye born to be
   An hour or half’s delight,
   And so to bid good-night?
‘Twas pity Nature brought ye forth
   Merely to show your worth,
      And lose you quite.

But you are lovely leaves, where we
   May read how soon things have
   Their end, though ne’er so brave:
And after they have shown their pride
   Like you, awhile, they glide
      Into the grave.

Janji adil dari pohon yang berbuah,
    "Mengapa kamu jatuh begitu cepat?"
    Tanggal Anda tidak begitu lampau,
Tetapi Anda mungkin tinggal di sini sebentar
    Untuk tersipu dan tersenyum lembut,
       Dan akhirnya pergi.

Apa, kamu dilahirkan untuk menjadi
    Kegembiraan satu jam atau setengah,
    Dan untuk menawar selamat malam?
"'Kedekatan kasih sayang Alam membawa kamu keluar"

    Seperti Anda, sementara, mereka meluncur
       Masuk ke kuburan.

To Sylvia, To Wed

Let us, though late, at last, my Silvia, wed;
And loving lie in one devoted bed.
Thy watch may stand, my minutes fly post haste;
No sound calls back the year that once is past.
Then, sweetest Silvia, let’s no longer stay;
True love, we know, precipitates delay.
Away with doubts, all scruples hence remove!
No man, at one time, can be wise, and love.

Of Love: A Sonnet

How love came in I do not know,
Whether by the eye, or ear, or no;
Or whether with the soul it came
(At first) infused with the same;
Whether in part ’tis here or there,
Or, like the soul, whole everywhere,
This troubles me: but I as well
As any other this can tell:
That when from hence she does depart
The outlet then is from the heart.

puisi inggris

To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
   Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
   Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
   The higher he’s a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
   And nearer he’s to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
   When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
   Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
   And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
   You may forever tarry.

Delight in Disorder

A sweet disorder in the dresse
Kindles in cloathes a wantonnesse:
A Lawne about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction:
An erring Lace, which here and there
Enthralls the Crimson Stomacher:
A Cuffe neglectfull, and thereby
Ribbands to flow confusedly:
A winning wave (deserving Note)
In the tempestuous petticote:
A careless shooe-string, in whose tye
I see a wilde civility:
Doe more bewitch me, then when Art
Is too precise in every part.

puisi inggris - the hag

puisi yoga

The Hag

    The Hag is astride,
    This night for to ride;
The Devill and shee together:
    Through thick, and through thin,
    Now out, and then in,
Though ne’r so foule be the weather.

    A Thorn or a Burr
    She takes for a Spurre:
With a lash of a Bramble she rides now,
    Through Brakes and through Bryars,
    O’re Ditches, and Mires,
She followes the Spirit that guides now.

    No Beast, for his food,
    Dares now range the wood;
But husht in his laire he lies lurking:
    While mischiefs, by these,
    On Land and on Seas,
At noone of Night are working,

    The storme will arise,
    And trouble the skies;
This night, and more for the wonder,
    The ghost from the Tomb
    Affrighted shall come,
Cal’d out by the clap of the Thunder.

puisi inggris - To Electra

To Electra

I dare not ask to kiss,

I dare not beg a smile,

Lest having that, or this,

I might grow proud the while.

No, no, the utmost share

Of my desire shall be

Only to kiss the air

That lately kissèd thee.

The Argument of His Book

I sing of brooks, of blossoms, birds, and bowers,
Of April, May, of June, and July flowers.
I sing of Maypoles, hock carts, wassails, wakes,
Of bridegrooms, brides, and of their bridal cakes.
I write of youth, of love, and have access
By these to sing of cleanly wantonness.
I sing of dews, of rains, and, piece by piece,
Of balm, of oil, of spice, and ambergris.
I sing of times trans-shifting, and I write
How roses first came red and lilies white.
I write of groves, of twilights, and I sing
The court of Mab and of the fairy king.
I write of hell; I sing (and ever shall)
Of heaven, and hope to have it after all.

To Anthea Who May Command Him Any Thing

Bid me to live, and I will live
  Thy Protestant to be;
Or bid me love, and I will give
  A loving heart to thee.

A heart as soft, a heart as kind,
  A heart as sound and free
As in the whole world thou canst find,
  That heart I’ll give to thee.

Bid that heart stay, and it will stay,
  To honour thy decree;
Or bid it languish quite away.
  And ‘t shall do so for thee.

Bid me to weep, and I will weep
  While I have eyes to see;
And having none, yet I will keep
  A heart to weep for thee.

Bid me despair, and I’ll despair,
  Under that cypress tree;
Or bid me die, and I will dare
  E’en Death, to die for thee.

Thou art my life, my love, my heart,
  The very eyes of me,
And hast command of every part,
  To live and die for thee.

puisi inggris - Grace for a Child

puisidankamut

Grace for a Child

Here, a little child I stand,
Heaving up my either hand:
Cold as paddocks though they be,
Here I lift them up to Thee,
For a benison to fall
On our meat, and on us all. Amen.
